Some photos from the Charlottesville teach-in event on September 5th, 2017. A panel of AFAM faculty and faculty from other departments discussed the events in Charlottesville and the larger social issues at play there and across the country. We had a great turnout!

AFAM took five of our students interested in law school to this annual event held at the Atherton Hotel. It was a great experience for our students (the only undergraduate students in attendance!), who got to meet the new dean and some of the faculty at Penn State Law.

Students on Cuba Trip

Nine students traveled to Havana, Cuba, as part of an embedded course on race, gender and religion in the country. WMNST 497A (AF AM 497A) Race, Gender, and Religion in Cuba is offered jointly between African American studies and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies in the College of the Liberal Arts.
