In 2015, Crystal R. Sanders, Ph.D. (Associate Professor, AFAM & History) wrote an articled titled “Blue Water, Black Beach: The North Carolina Teachers Association and Hammocks Beach in the Age of Jim Crow,” that was published in the North Carolina Historical Review.
