Professor Tamara Lawson, Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Professor of Law at Florida’s St. Thomas University offered a comparative analysis of STAND YOUR GROUND laws in Florida, Pennsylvania, and other states at a March 31, 2015 TEACH-IN co-sponsored by the Africana Research Center, African American Studies, Dickinson School of Law, and MULA (Multicultural Undergraduate Law Association). Professor Lawson spoke for approximately 45 minutes to some sixty students and faculty about recent Florida cases in which the law was invoked, including the George Zimmerman, Marissa Alexander, Michael Dunn, and Curtis Reeves cases. Professor Lawson took questions for some 30 minutes following her lecture.
