Poet and critic, David S. Marriott, was born and educated in England and received his Ph.D. in literature from the University of Sussex. He has taught at the Universities of London and California before Penn State. His publications include, On Black Men (Edinburgh University Press, 2000; Columbia University Press, 2000); Haunted Life (Rutgers University Press, 2007), Whither Fanon?: Studies in the Blackness of Being (Stanford University Press, 2018), and Duppies (Commune Editions, 2019). His present project, X: Black Matters, is a politico-philosophical study of the notion of black life.
